Nizamuddin Taher surprises Yogesh Desai

Nizamuddin Taher who has come all the way from Hyderabad, surprised  the National Masters’  and World Masters’ TT Champion Yogesh Desai 3-1 in the Men’s 60+ Group 9 league stage match of the KHYAAL- TSTTA organized Masters’ Table Tennis tournament at Prabodhankar Thackeray Kreeda Sankul ( PTKS), Vile Parle today evening.

Taher also topped his Men’s 60+ group, beating other two players, namely Vinod Dighe and Raj Phadke. In the Men’s 60+ Doubles, Taher partnering with Ulhas Shirke has also qualified for the doubles main draw.

Best performances also came from all the four players in Men’s 60+ group 5, when Naresh Shah, Sunil Ranka, Bharat Kotecha besides seasoned Percy Mehta. Though Percy Mehta and Naresh Shah secured 1st and 2nd position respectively, to qualify for the main draw, the best match , with full of excitement  was played between Sunil Ranka and Bharat Kotecha, which was won narrowly 3-2 by Sunil Ranka.

Best performance was also displayed by Anil Solanki  who won all his matches in Men’s 50+ and topped his Group No. 14. Yogesh Desai , also topped his group No. 2 in Men’s 50+ event. Similarly, Dr. Nitin Toshniwal from Solapur also won his matches from Men’s 50+ Group 13, to enter the main draw. Among the other top seasoned players, who qualified for the Men’s 50 and 60+ Singles main draw are : Jogesh Motwani, Kapil Kumar, Tejas Naik, Mahesh Londhe, Bhushan Nevgi, Jayant Gunjal, Ulhas Shirke, Nitish Kumar, Vishal Yadav, Ravindra Ekande, Sarosh Shroff, Sanjay Mehta, Parin Thakkar, Sudhir Kidav, L.V.Thakre, , R.J. Hari Krishna ( Hyderabad) & Mahesh Shetye.

Men’s 50 and 60 + singles & doubles main draw matches will be played tomorrow from 10 am onwards, followed by Women’s 50 and 60+ matches. All finals will be played from 4.30 pm. onwards.
