Sanklap and Purva are the top seeds

Sankalp Chandragurala of Nagpur District and Purva Barve of Pune District have been given the pride of place in the Yonex Sunrise Manoj Ramchandra Memorial State Open Badminton Tournament 2026, conducted by the North Indian Association and Jitesh Padukone Academy, under the auspices of the Maharashtra Badminton Association and which is set to start from Thursday, March 26, 2026. The tournament, has attracted over 360 entries.

Kaushal Dharmamer (Mumbai Suburban) is seeded second while Sarvesh Yadav (Thane) and Krishna Jasuja (Pune) are the third and fourth seeds respectively in the Men’s draw.

The second seed in the Women’s draw is Aarya Korgaonkar (Thane), while the third and fourth seeds are Shreya Bhosale (Pune) and Nishika Gokhe (Nagpur) respectively.

Besides the Men’s and Women’s singles events, competition will also be conducted for Boys’ & Girls’ U-15 singles, and Boys’ & Girls’ U-11 singles categories. The matches will be played at the North Indian Association, MIG Cricket Club of India and Matunga Gymkhana badminton courts.

The Men’s & Women’s winners’ cash stand to earn a cash award of Rs 41,000 each, while the runner-up will get a prize of Rs 31,000 each. The third and fourth place winners will get Rs 21,000 and Rs 11,000 respectively.

The prizes from the Boys’ and Girls’ Under-15 singles category is Rs 8,500 for the winners, runner-up Rs 5,500 and the third place winners will receive Rs 3,500. The prizes for the Under-15 category is sponsored by Sandeep Thacker in memory of his late son, Nihar Thacker.

The winners in Boys’ and Girls’ Under-11 singles events will take home a cash prize of Rs 6,000 each while the runner-ups and third place winner will get Rs 4,000 and Rs 2,500 each.
