RBI, Yes Bank start on winning note

 Hosts Reserve Bank of India cruised to a fluent 6-wicket win against India First Life Insurance in a first round match of Reserve Bank of India organised 64th Sir Benegal Rama Rau Bank Shield Cricket Tournament 2026, under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Karnatak SA ground on Saturday.

Batting first, India First Life Insurance scored 103 for 8 wickets in 20 overs and later Reserve Bank of India surpassed the winning target scoring 104 for 4 wickets in 27.4 overs.

Meanwhile, Yes Bank also scored a comfortable 6-wicket win against National Stock Exchange in another first round match played at the Sunder CC ground. Sent in to bat first, India First Life Insurance were restricted to 103 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Later, Reserve Bank of India easily chased the target reaching 104 runs for 4 wickets in 27.4 overs.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Chief Guests, Navendu, Chief General Manager (Tech), RBI and Unmesh Khanvilkar, Hon. Gen. Secretary, Mumbai Cricket Association in the presence of other dignitaries.

RBI is organizing this tournament to provide an opportunity for young talented and promising youngsters to showcase their skills and get recruited in the Banking sector. Brief scores: National Stock Exchange 106 all out, 18 overs (Sourav Mehra 33, Kuldeep Soni 23,  Harshal Khedekar 4 for 20, Vishal Tatlare 3 for 4) lost to Yes Bank 122 for 4, 13.1 overs (Srinivas Bandeen 37, Shailesh Agarwal 31*; Kalpesh Hadiya 3 for 41). Result: Yes Bank won by 6 wickets.

India First Life Insurance 103 for 8, 20 overs (Dattaram Hindalkar 44*; Abhijeet 2 for 12, Sandeep V. 2 for 22, Mahesh Mishra 2 for 27) lost to Reserve Bank of India 104 for 4, 27.4 over  (Vishwas Krishna 30, Sandeep V. 26, Ketan Dangar 23; Prabhat Tiwari 2 for 28). 

Result: Reserve Bank of India won by 6 wickets.
