Myraa Sangelkar bags Triple Crown; Mixed luck for Raghav Mahajan

14 year old Myraa Sangelkar proved her supremacy in the Girls-U15, Girls U-17 and Women’s Singles categories in the first TSTTA-PTKS 3 Star District Ranking Table Tennis tournament which concluded at Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul, Vile Parle, yesterday evening.

Myraa who had already won Women’s singles event 2 days ago, having won all her matches, including Urvi Churi in the finals. Yesterday evening, Myraa two more crowns, when she faced the same opponent Palakh Jawhar twice and two back to back wins in five games battle. Though her matches were stretched to five games, she looked confident of winning her matches. Myraa is coached by renowned coach Nilesh Pandirkar, who was personally present to boost her morale.

In the Boys U-15 and U-17 events finals, Raghav Mahajan had mixed luck, as this talented youngster put up a great fight to overcome Ahan Gosar in well fought five games final in Boys U-17 event, but lost to Akarshan Yadav in the finals of Boys U-15 event.

Arnav Kshirsagar who won the Boys U-19 event beating Yuvraj Yadav in the finals, could not repeat his form against Ayush Sonavane in the Men’s Singles final. In the Girls U-19 finals Urvi Churi emerged the champion, winning all her matches, while Ayushi Shirgaonkar bagged the 2nd position, with Ayanaa Beddingwala finishing close with 3rd place.

Mr. Gaurang Menon son of former international Late Vilas Menon and Natiional Level player Renu Menon, was present during the prize distribution ceremony as a special guest and he announced cash prizes for two promising players in this tournament, in memory of his mother Ms. Renu Menon, who passed away last month. The beneficiaries were Nikesh Kute and Radhya Vora.
