14 year old Saanvi Deshwal from The Bombay Scottish School, Mumbai has given a remarkable performance. Saavni has won three medals at the 12th Asian Age Group Swimming Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 17th to 21st July 2026.

Saanvi emerged as the only swimmer from Maharashtra to win a medal at the championship, a remarkable achievement at one of the continent’s toughest junior competitions. Representing India and competing with the Asia’s finest young swimmers.
The championship witnessed participation from 27 countries, including traditional swimming powerhouses with some of the largest contingents such as China, Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Thailand (host nation), Hong Kong, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, and India, making the level of competition exceptionally high.
Saanvi returned home with two individual bronze medals and one relay bronze medal, while also producing three Indian Best Performances.
Her performances were:
· Bronze Medal – 200m Individual Medley – 2:18.63 (New Indian Best Performance)
· Bronze Medal – 400m Individual Medley – 5:00.03
· Bronze Medal – 4×100m Medley Relay – 4:16.85 (New Indian Best Performance), Saanvi did breast stroke leg of the relay
· Set New benchmark in 200m Breaststroke with timing of 2:35.93 (New Indian Best Performance), finishing 4th place.
Her performance has not only brought glory to India but also made Maharashtra proud, as she was the state’s lone medallist at the championship. With several years of junior competitions still ahead of her, Saanvi’s achievements underline her immense potential to strengthen India’s hopes for future success at the International events .
