Poinsur Gymkhana celebrated National Sports Day with enthusiasm, by felicitating talented young sportspersons for their outstanding achievements in various sports. The programme was organised with the objective of recognising sporting excellence and encouraging youngsters to actively pursue sports along with education.
Addressing the gathering, Janasevak and Former Member of Parliament Shri Gopal Shetty emphasised the important role of parents in nurturing sporting talent. He appealed to parents to encourage their children to continue participating in sports alongside their studies.
“Education and sports must go hand in hand. Parents should support their children in pursuing sports along with academics, as sports contribute significantly to their overall personality and development,” Shri Shetty said.
Ms. Sayali Jadhav, District Sports Officer, North Mumbai, highlighted the role of sports in building character and preparing youngsters for challenges in life. She said that regular participation in sports develops three important qualities — Commitment, Concentration and Dedication — which are essential for success not only on the playing field, but in every sphere of life.
A special highlight of the programme was the launch of the book ‘Badalte Krida Jagat’, authored by Shri Sunil Valavalkar. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Valavalkar appreciated the efforts of Poinsur Gymkhana and Shri Gopal Shetty in creating quality sports infrastructure and facilities for nurturing and supporting upcoming sporting talent.
Young achievers from various sporting disciplines were felicitated during the programme in recognition of their performances and achievements.
The programme was attended by Poinsur Gymkhana President Shri Mukesh Bhandari, Vice President Shri Karunakar S. Shetty, along with other dignitaries, office bearers, sportspersons, coaches, parents and members of the Gymkhana.
Congratulating the young athletes, Shri Gopal Shetty wished them continued success and encouraged them to work hard, aim for greater achievements and bring laurels to Maharashtra and the nation.
The National Sports Day celebration once again reaffirmed Poinsur Gymkhana’s commitment to promoting sports, developing young talent and creating opportunities for the next generation of sportspersons. Thanks to all the office bearers for their hard work,in promoting sports.
