Neeru Dhanda made history today morning, when she won the first individual Gold for India in Trap Shooting by breaking the Asian record. This was India’s fifth Gold in this championship, which proved to be inspiring for our other athletes. Soon thereafter, the other four Golden girls Kiran, Prachi, Poovamma M and Vithya R. celebrated India’s next Gold medal in women’s 4 x 400m relay final at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Today, India won eight more medals including these two Gold medals , to surpass the half century of their total medals won so far. Besides the five Golden girls mentioned above, the performances of other athletes like Pooja Olla, Gulveer Singh, Yashveer Singh, Rohit Yadav is also worth mentioning. Gulveer Singh also needs a special mention, for having won 2 Silber and 1 Bronze in 1500m, 10,000 m & 5000 m respectively, in this championship.

In their last group match the Indian Vollyball team displayed a superb performance against equally balanced Qatar team. Down 0-2 , our Indian boys put up a great fight, to win this match 3-2. Unbeaten in their group matches, India will now play in quarter finals. So, besides Men’s cricket event, there are still hopes for more Gold medals from other team events and few more individual events.
