Bank of Baroda held its nerves to score a five-run win against Union Bank of India in an Elite Group match of the 63rd Sir Benegal Rama Rau RBI shield tournament at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana on Friday.
Middle order batter Chetan Bisht held the BOB innings together with a 49-ball 64 with 5x4s and 2x6s.
Left arm seamer Komal Tandel took 4 for 38 to keep the BOB batters under check.
Chasing a modest target, Union Bank had a realistic chance of winning a close match, but the departure of Tanay Khandeshi (56) after his 51 run stand with Faizan Rabbani for the fourth wicket tilted the scales in favour of the persevering BOB side for which left arm spinner Varun Sood took 4 for 13 runs.
