Determined Infant Jesus overcome St. Paul’s 2-1

Infant Jesus, Vasai played with plenty of gumption and did well to overcome St. Paul’s ‘B’, Dadar by a fighting 2-1 margin in Men’s Open quarter-final play-off league match of the 45th Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana Rink Football Tournament 2025 and played under floodlights at the WCG tennis courts on Sunday.

Energetic striker Nayan Kajve played a crucial role by scoring both the goals to help Infant Jesus carved out a narrow win. St. Paul’s ‘B’, Dadar scored their lone goal through their seasoned goal-scorer Malcolm Blakely.

Later, Good Shepherd struck top form and  romped to a 3-1 win against Our Lady of Health ‘B’ in another play-off encounter. Prolific goal-scorers Karan Khanna, Farman Khan  and Kamran Siddique cashed in on the chances that came their way to score one goal each and knock the fight out of the Sahar boys. Our Lady of Health managed to score one goal through Nikh Bonulu’s efforts. 

Results – Men’s Open (quarter-finals play-off league): Infant Jesus, Vasai  2 (Nayan Kajve 2) beat St. Paul’s ‘B’, Dadar 1 (Malcolm Blakely).

Good Shepherd 3 (Karan Khanna, Farman Khan, Kamran Siddique) beat Our Lady of Health ‘B’, Sahar 1 (Nikh Bonulu).

Men’s Veteran’s 40+:  MYJ Sports Club ‘Blue’ 2 (Rakesh Yadav, Steven Gomes) beat I.C. Royals ‘Blue ‘ 1 (Kartik Shetty).

Thunderbolts SC ‘A’ 2 (Nigel D’Souza, Alok Thakkar) beat St. Joseph’s, Juhu 0.

Men’s Veteran’s 50+: Maccabi ‘A’ 3 (Thomas Gonna Lonnapan 2, Martin D’Silva) beat BBC, Juhu 0.

I.C. Veterans 4 (Abbas Ali Rizvi 3, Effurun Andrews) beat MYJ Sports Club 1 (Robert Connel).
