Chandra Barot, who directed Amitabh Bachchan’s super hit film ‘Don’ passed away today morning in a hospital in Bandra, Mumbai. He was 86. Mr. Barot was undergoing treatment for lung disorder for the past few days. After knowing about his sad demise, Mr. Bachchan paid tributes to his director, expressing his grief .

Chandra Barot started his career in direction as assistant director to Mr. Manoj Kumar and was with his team for four of his hit films since 1970. In 1978, he independently directed film ‘Don’ which became a super hit. Except for few film assignments as a director, Mr. Barot did not receive the kind of response one expected from producers that time. But, that one film ‘Don’ was enough to describe his talent. No wonder, remakes of this film were made by others.
