Down Memory Lane… Unforgettable 56 years of ‘Dosti’


56 years ago Rajshri Productions’ ‘Dosti’ directed by renowned director of that era Satyen Bose, was released on 6th November 1964. So, yesterday they celebrated 56 years of ‘Dosti’. The film had presented an emotion filled story of friendship between two  youngsters, one visually impaired and the other physically handicapped . The film had featured newcomers Sudhir Sawant and Sushil Kumar in the respective roles of Mohan as the visually impaired and Ramu as handicapped. Even the third hero Sanjay Khan was in his early days of films.Popular Marathi actress of that period Uma played the role of a Nurse (Mohan’s sister). Photo Dosti

 

Besides its emotion filled story which touched the hearts of filmlovers, ‘Dosti’ became hit for its music and all those memorable songs which are still on the lips of music lovers. The film had won 6  filmfare  1965 awards  in spite of the competition from films like Raj Kapoor’s ‘Sangam’, V.Shantaram’s ‘Geet Gaya Pattharone’  and  K.A. Abbas’ film ‘Sheher aur Sapna’ . The 6 awards won by this film were for Best Film : Producer Tarachand Barjatya , Best Music- Laxmikant Pyarelal, Best Story : Ban Bhat , Best dialogues : Govind Moonis, Best Playback singer : Mohd. Rafi  &  Best lyricist: Majrooh Sultanpuri  for the same song Chhahoonga Main Tujhe…’ . And this was a big achievement.
