Duane hat-trick powers Sacred Heart’s easy win

Inspired by the brilliance of ace striker Duane D’Souza who recorded a fine hat-trick helped Sacred Heart ‘B’, Andheri romp to a fluent 6-2 win against Our Lady of Health ‘C’, Sahar in a Men’s Open second round match of the 45th Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana Rink Football Tournament 2025-26 and played under floodlights at the WCG tennis courts on Sunday evening.

Duane was quick to pounce on every opportunity to score three goals. Teammates Viral Mandalia scored two goals and Murud Mohammed chipped in with one goal to round-off the winning margin. Our Lady of Health managed to reduce the deficit with Pasa Shaikh and Rahul Chaubey striking a goal each.

In other second round encounters, which were decided via the penalty shootout, Infant Jesus, Vasai prevailed over Mount Carmel, Bandra by three goals to two and later, Holy Cross, Kurla managed to get the better of St. Thomas, Santacruz by an identical 3-2 scoreline.

Results – Men’s Open (second round): Holy Cross, Kurla 3 (Aditya Shinde, Pranay Kanekar, Sven Serrao) beat St. Thomas, Santacruz 2 (Shoaib Shaikh, Sabir Shaikh).

Infant Jesus, Vasai 3 (Rakshit Pillai, Akshay Chauhan, Aniket Kanojia) beat Mount Carmel, Bandra 2 (Zeeshan Shaikh, Nestor Mascarenhas).

Sacred Heart ‘B’, Andheri 6 (Duane D’Souza 3,  Viral Mandalia 2, Murud Mohammed) beat Our Lady of Health ‘C’, Sahar 2 (Pasa Shaikh, Rahul Chaubey).

Men’s Veteran’s (first round): Ronnie’s SC 7 (Glen Moraes 4, Preetam Mahadik, Edilbert Martis, Melvin Vaz) beat St. Joseph’s, Umerkhadi 1 (Roger Gonsalves).
