Mumbai’s rising badminton star Harshit Mahimkar put on a stellar performance to storm into the semifinals of both the boys’ under-17 and under-19 categories at the CCI-GMBA Yonex Sunrise District Badminton Championship 2025.
Harshit Mahimkar stormed into semi finals of both storm into the semifinals of boys’ U-17 and U-19 categories at the CCI-GMBA Yonex Sunrise District Badminton Championship 2025.
In the under-17 quarterfinals, Harshit cruised past Jatin Khosya with a commanding 21-10, 21-11 win at the CCI Badminton Courts. He will be joined in the semifinals by second seed Anay Pingulkar, who was tested but eventually overcame Dhruv Pawar 21-18, 19-21, 21-17. Also advancing were Akshat Raisurana and Adyanth Gupta, both winning in straight games.
Harshit was equally dominant in the under-19 quarterfinals, where he demolished A. Krishnan 21-5, 21-3 to seal his place in the last four. Second seed Akshat Raisurana also had an easy outing, defeating Saksham Chaturvedi 21-5, 21-6. Anay Pingulkar and Durgesh Kulkarni completed the semifinal lineup with straight-game victories.
In the women’s singles category, top seed Naisha Kaur-Bhatoy and second seed Shivani Herlekar comfortably advanced to the semifinals.
Naisha defeated Sajana Maharao 21-10, 21-5, while Shivani overpowered Natasha Daswani 21-5, 21-4. They were joined by Thea Sheth and Devanshi Shinde, both registering solid wins in their respective quarterfinal clashes.
