HPCL ride to 8-wkt win on Chavan’s all-round show

All rounder Aryan Chavan with 4 wickets for 11 runs and unbeaten 50 runs did the star turn in piloting HPCL SC to a eight wicket win over Steam Pulse SC in a league match of the Insurance Shield Cricket Tournament 2025-26 organised by Oriental Insurance Company and played at the Oval Maidan on Monday.

Steam Pulse making first use of the wicket could eke out only 89 for 7 in their 20 overs having little answer to Chavan’s bowling. Shailesh Nage with 2 for 24 lent admirable support even as Vansh Chumble played a lone hand for the losers with 37 runs.

In the other match, New India Assurance stormed to a six wicket win over GIC Recreation Club. GIC were skittled out 95 with Sanskar Dahelkar  4 for 11, Chetan Wagh 2 for 10 and Mayank Bharadwaj 2 for 14 sharing the spoils. Aural Dubey’s 34 for GIC was the only worthwhile effort with the willow.

In their reply, New India’s Sanskar Dahelkar with 42 and Pratam Salaskar with 34 did their bit with the bat.

Brief scores: Steam Pulse SC 89 for 7, 20 overs (Vansh Chumble 37; Aryan Chavan 4 for 11, Shailesh Nage 2 for 24) lost to HPCL SC (Aryan Chavan 50*, Tejas Chalk 21*, Raza Mirza 20).
