Sagar Jain and Siddharth Tembe scored contrasting win in their respective first round matches of the CCI Snooker Classic 2026, which commenced at the iconic Cricket Club of India’s Wilson Jones Billiards Hall on Friday.
Selvel Samuel won the deciding frame to overcome Vijay Lilwa 3-2 in a first round match.
Jain started with a flourish constructing a half century effort 53 break in the first frame against Navin Sankarnarayan and went on to complete a 3-0 (62-21, 61-28, 59-39) victory.
In contrast, Tembe faced quite a strong challenge from Jeet Thakur before snatching a hard-fought 3-2 (32-62, 60-32, 62-10, 40-75, 61-18) victory to advance to the second round.
In another closely fought match, Selvel Samuel managed to win the deciding fifth frame to overcome Vijay Lilwa 3-2 (55-16, 43-51, 66-43, 31-58, 74-32).
