Pacers Patil, Tanpure inspire Mumbai Police 

Hosts Mumbai Police Gymkhana inspired by the brilliant bowling performances from medium pacer Yogesh Patil (4 for 59) and Amol Tanpure (3 for 57) went on to bundle out P.J. Hindu Gymkhana for 192 in 49 overs on the first day of their 2-day semi-final match of the 78th Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2025-26, organized jointly by the Commissionerate of Police Greater Mumbai and the Police Shield Committee and played at the Police Gymkhana ground on Saturday.

Choosing to field, Mumbai Police rocked the Hindu Gymkhana innings with Tanpure sending back both the openers, Rugved More (8 runs) and Amog Bhatkal (6 runs). Later Patil got rid of Gautam Waghela for no score and Hindu Gymkhana reeling at 16 for 3 wickets in the fifth over.

Thereafter, Hindu Gymkhana continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Skipper and number eight batsman Maxwell Swaminathan lifted the Hindu Gymkhana innings with a composed unbeaten knock of 65 runs which contained nine cracks to the boundary ropes and one six from 95-ball before their innings came to a close in the 49th over. 

In the other semi-final, Victory Cricket Club are in a strong position having scored 277 for 5 wickets in 63 overs. 

Pragnesh Kanpillewar 68 runs, Suved Parkar 64 runs, Aayush Zimare batting 61 runs and Jay Bista 39 runs boosted the Victory innings.  New Hindu CC’s  Shreyas Gurav(2 for 16) was the only successful bowler.
