RBI to meet BoB in Elite Group final


Hosts Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Sports Club defeated Union Bank of India SC by seven wickets in an Elite Group semi-final of the 63rd Sir Benegal Rama Rau RBI Shield Cricket tournament, played at the National Cricket Club, Cross Maidan on Tuesday.

After medium pacer Vijay Kumawat claimed 4 for 25, a 45-run start between Sumit Ghadigaonkar (31 runs) and G.S. Chiranjeevi (30 runs) set the tone for a clear cut victory for the RBI side.

Top order batsman, Roop Kumar was the leading batter with a half century knock of 52 runs as Union Bank reached 132 for 7 in 20 overs. Shreyansh Kumar 32 runs and Tanay Khandeshi 32 runs lifted the innings.

RBI will meet Bank of Baroda in the summit clash. Bank of Baroda defeated New India Assurance by 11 runs in the second semi-finals to advance to the finals.

Bank of Baroda 137 for 6 in 20 overs (Chetan Bisht 36, Varun Sood 49 not out, Mayank Bharadwaj 2 for 23, Meet Jain 2 20) bt  New India Assurance 126 for 9 in 20 overs (Meet Jain 25, Krushang Patel 3 for 23, Mairaj Khan 3 for 16, Laukik Ramane 2 for 6) by 11 runs.
