Shahyan,Raayan score contrasting wins


The Razmi brothers, Shahyan and Raayan, both of Elphinstone Cricket Club scored contrasting victories to advance to the second round of the Khar Gymkhana Open Handicap Snooker Tournament 2018, and played at the Khar Gymkhana Billiards Room.

The younger brother, Shahyan (+35 handicap) enjoyed an easy outing and strolled to a 3-0 win against S.L. Sathe (+60) of Khar Gymkhana in a first round match. The 13-year-old Shahyan potted well to script a 111-89, 117-99 and 105-74 victory.

 

In contrast, the elder brother, Raayan (+25) had quite a fight on hand, but his determined approach and hard work helped him to overcome Karan Chug (+40) of NSCI by a 3-2 margin. Raayan won the first frame, but Chug fought back and won the next two to take a 2-1 lead. But, the ECC youngster kept his cool to win a tight fourth frame to level scores and force the decider which he won comfortably to snatch a 110-70, 77-107, 52-89, 94-93 and 113-74 success.

Meanwhile, Kartikeye Sharma of Vashi and Karan Anand of Andheri Recreation Club, both won their first round encounters by a short 3-0 scorlines. Sharma (+25) showed great touch and outplayed Abhishek Darge (+50) of Dadar Club 3-0 (75-67, 100-78, 114-67), while Anand (+20) powered his way past Ashwin Palnitkar (+50) of  Deccan Gymkhana, Pune posting a 3-0 (113-60, 86-74, 84-59) win with a measure of ease.
