Signature Campaign by Kalaawant Trust demanding a ban on Dolby / Sound Systems in public festival processions

Due to the increasing use of Dolby / sound systems in public festival processions, citizens are facing multiple issues such as inconvenience to residents; especially senior citizens and patients, damage to public and private property, physical harm caused by excessive noise pollution, and complete disruption of traffic arrangements.

Not just sound, but tradition, energy, and culture – that’s “Kalaavant Dhol Pathak.”

To raise public awareness about these problems and to urge the administration to impose a ban on the use of Dolby/sound systems, Kalaawant Trust has prepared a memorandum. In support of this memorandum, a public signature campaign will be conducted.

Faith resides in the beat of every drum, and Bappa’s blessings in every smile.

The collected signatures along with the memorandum will soon be submitted to the Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Key Demands in the Memorandum: A strict ban on DJs, Dolby systems, and other such large sound systems during religious and cultural festival processions, as well as processions held on the occasion of anniversaries or commemorations of great leaders, and public parades.

This will prevent local residents from suffering due to high noise levels and related health hazards (such as hearing loss). It will also help reduce traffic congestion and avoid other untoward incidents. Promotion of traditional instruments and art forms in processions. Preparation of a regulatory framework for controlling noise pollution. Kalaawant Trust appeals to citizens to participate in this campaign and register their support by signing.

For those unable to attend in person, a facility to sign a Digital Petition will also be provided, with the petition link being shared on the same day. Details of the Signature Campaign: Date: 14th September 2025, Sunday Venue: Balgandharva Rangmandir Premises, Pune Time: From 9:00 AM onwards.
