Union Bank snatch narrow 7-run win

Union Bank of India registered a seven-run win over GIC Recreation Club in a league match of the Insurance Shield Cricket Tournament 2025-26, organised by Oriental Insurance Company and played at United Cricketers  ground, Cross Maidan.

Krish Singh was in irresistible form as he cracked an unbeaten century totalling 106 to help Union Bank of India score 161 for four in 20 overs. Krish notched six sixers and nine boundaries in his knock. 

In their reply, GIC finished with 154 for 4, which featured an unbeaten century of 104 by Sumit Selokar which comprised five sixers and eight fours.

In another league match, Bank of India wound up with a seven-wicket win over Bombay Mercantile Co-op Bank. Mercantile were skittled out for 72 in 12 overs with Nitin Kadale doing the bulk of the damage with six for 18. He received fine support from Aary Gaikwad who claimed 3 for 12. 

Bank of India finished with 75 for 3 in eight overs.

Brief scores: Union Bank of India 161 for 4, 20 overs ( Krish Singh 106 (9×4, 6×6)* beat GIC Recreation Club 154 for 4, 20 overs ( Sumit Selokar 104 (8×4, 5×6);* Gaurav Bhanwar 2 for 14).

Result: Union Bank of India won by 7 runs.

Bombay Mercantile Co-op Bank 72 all out, 12 overs (Nitin Kadale 6 for 18, Aary Gaikwad 3 for 12) lost to Bank of India 75 for 3, 8 overs (Chirag Modak 25, Nitin Kadak 21; Abdul H. 2 for 24).

Result: Bank of India won by 7 wickets.
