A total of 21 aspiring women coaches from Mumbai attended an E-license course organized by the Local Organising Committee of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022, as part of its Coach Education Scholarship Programme at Cooperage Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. The Coach Education Scholarship Programme was launched as celebration of the International Women’s Day.

Present at the launch was Tournament Director of the LOC of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 and AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, Roma Khanna, Madhurima Raje, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee for WIFA, and Souter Vaz, Hon. Gen. Secretary WIFA.
The purpose of organizing such a programme is to further develop women’s football. This event was organized with support from FIFA and with the assistance of the Western India Football Association.
Under the supervision of Prashant Singh Elite instructor E-License course, the candidates were trained in both theoretical and practical elements of the game with all safety practices in place.
Vaz was glad that such progammes are being organized for women football enthusiasts. “The Coach Education Scholarship Programme organized under the banner of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 is a wonderful initiative to encourage and promote women towards the development of football. It’s certainly beneficial for the young and enthusiastic footballers who are keen and aspire to make a career in football coaching,” Vaz mentioned after the launch.
A similar Coach Education Programme will later be conducted in several other districts of Maharashtra, including Pune, Thane, Nagpur and Kolhapur. The event will be organized in association with Government of Maharashtra and the Western India Football Association (WIFA).
