Jashwant Mehta well known architect and Consulting engineer from Mumbai has also been very active with his social work. Jashwant Mehta’s new book ‘Presidential Democracy- India’s dire need for better Governance’ was officially released on Thursday evening at the hands five distinguished guests from different fields including eminent lawyer and former Rajya Sabha member Y.P.Trivedi. The Hon.Chief guest Shri M.N.Venkatachaliah Former Chief Justice of India and Chairman , Constitutional Reforms Committee, GOI-2002, could not make it for the function due to ill health. However, this 92 year old legend sent a congratulatory message to the author appreciating his efforts for bringing better Governance in India. His message was read out by Mr. Y.P Trivedi.
In past many eminent personalities from India like Shri JRD Tata, Shri Bhanu Dhamija, Shri M.N.Venkatchaliah Shri Nani Palkhiwala and others had appreciated his previous publication ‘Quest For a Better Democratic Alternative’ and therefore this publication will certainly be useful for Constitutional experts, to give a serious thought to the suggestions made by Mr. Jashwant Mehta through this latest book. 
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Jashwant Mehta not only explained how the presidential Democracy would suit country like India, but also gave examples by showing comparisons between the present system and how the presidential system would benefit the country. He pointed out how the posts like President, Governors of states and Mayors of different cities were deprived of powers in absence of Presidential democracy. In Presidential Democracy every citizen of India will have a right to select the Mayor of his city, Governor of his state and President of the country. And all three of them will be having lot of powers. There are many interesting things Mr. Jashwant Mehta has talked about but for that you will have to read his thought provoking book.
Then talking about the advantages of presidential democracy, he stated that this itself will avoid all types of corruption and infighting that we witness today , with unhappy people changing the parties.
