Imagine a musical show…without any orchestra. There are no singers on the stage. No musical instruments. The only person you see is the host who does not sing. And yet…when you leave the auditorium, you are much more richer in your understanding of music in general, and R.D.Burman’s music in particular.

Sunil Vishrani’s “Art from Heart” presents “PanchaMtantra”, an insightful show about the music of Pancham, as R.D.Burman was known in the music industry. Hosted by music composer Madhav Vijay, this program is scheduled for 8.30 pm on Sunday, 18th November 2018 at Prabodhankar Thackeray Mini, Borivali West, Mumbai. And, it promises a show with a difference.
So what is Panchamtantra? Quite simply, it is an intellectual give and take between the host Madhav Vijay and the listeners, where he explains the nuances and insights behind the music of the genius Burman Junior. Coming from a music composer like Madhav, whose films have won two Maharashtra State Awards, and one National Award, it is a session not to be missed by anyone who loves music, especially R.D.Burman’s music.
As Madhav slowly uncovers the aspects of Panchamda and his music, he opens up a magical corner in the heart of the great composer, about which we hardly knew anything…a corner which is sure to amaze the viewers, revealing the intelligent brain behind those heartfelt melodies, the sound logic behind the absolute madness that happened in the recording studios, and the simple man with the golden heart behind the legendary music composer that we all know. And all this is uncovered through a series of audios and videos that play on the screen, mesmerising the audience till the very end of the magical experience.
“It is a program where we try and delve into how R.D.Burman thought, what was his approach, how he was a complete music director.”, says Madhav Vijay.
His viewers agree wholeheartedly. As Pancham fan and musician Rakesh Bajaj puts it – ”What we experienced in there was actually an insight into the brain of R.D.Burman.”
Another viewer and collegian Surabhi Shah says – “I always knew I liked R.D.Burman’s music. Now I know WHY I liked his music.”
With the apt tagline “Decoding Pancham”, PanchaMtantra promises to be a super bonanza for R.D.Burman fans.
So do not forget to meet the real Panchamda, as he manifests himself on the stage, through the talks of his fan and student Madhav.
