Known for his typical style of delivering dialogues, Sadashiv Amrapurkar created his own place in Bollywood. He first came into limelight with his debut performance in Govind Nihalani’s film ‘Ardha Satya’. His character of Rama Shetty, won him the best supporting actor Filmfare award those days. Later, he went on to bag best Villain award for his superb performance in the film ‘Sadak’. Though Mr. amrapurkar was known for his negative performances, he surprised everyone, bagging award for Best Comedian in the film ‘Ankhen’.

Amrapurkar performed in about 300 films, which comprised films in Hindi, Marathi, Oriya, Telugu, Tamil, Bengalee and other languages. He passed away on 3rd November 2014, at the age of 64. On the occasion of his first death anniversary, his daughter Reema Amrapurkar and other family members, have made an announcement about formation of a Foundation in his memory, to create a platform for talented artistes from rural areas.
