“Self Hypnosis’ helps you to control your mind” – Sneha Samel

Hypnosis is actually a process to help people relax, so as to reduce pain or any behavioral changes. However, many people are scared to undergo this therapy. They fear that the hypnotist may take control of their mind. But, what if, you can hypnotize yourself ? This process is called ‘Self hypnosis’ which is a safe way to establish control over your mind by keeping away the harmful thoughts. In this process, you yourself give the right kind of suggestions to your mind with the use of appropriate words. All that you need is 10 minutes from your daily schedule and a quiet place to relax.

In the present situation of corona pandemic, there are rising cases of fear and anxiety among the people. Many people are already living under stress. This is where Self hypnosis would be great help to treat such people. It is interesting to learn that in this self healing therapy you are developing positive thoughts in your mind by closing your eyes and giving instructions to yourself in your own soft voice.

Recently, I came across an interesting talk show on this subject on Instagram where the programme anchor Srushti Srivastava CEO, Infiheal was interviewing Sneha Samel , a trained Hypnotherapist, Consulting Psychologist and Bach Flower therapist. Speaking on this occasion, Sneha first explained the difference between Hypnosis and Self Hypnosis, to remove the misunderstanding among the listeners of this programme. She also made it clear as to how Self Hypnosis helps an individual to overcome many types of problems. She also emphasized that ‘Self Hypnosis’ was a successful method for reducing stress by opening your mind with new thought process through self instructions.

Sneha not only explained the process in a simple way but also encouraged the listeners to practice this method, to stay away from addictions, pain, stress and other related problems. She herself demonstrated the method of ‘Self Hypnosis’, by closing her eyes and pouring good thoughts with the instructions issued in a soft voice to herself. “Self honour is not ‘Selfish’. It only ensures people their full potential,” she said. Further explaining how Self Hypnosis works, she added, “ When you honor yourself, you start respecting your needs. When you start respecting your needs, you start respecting your time and when you start respecting time, you start respecting your efforts.”

It was certainly an inspiring talk show for all those who very much wanted to know the benefits of this therapy . Sneha is willing to participate in such talk shows to spread the awareness about this therapy for the betterment of the society. Having done her Master’s in Counselling Psychology, from SNDT University, Mumbai, Sneha has international certification in RECBT from the Albert Ellis Institute, New York and currently pursuing level 3 of BACH FLOWER Therapy certificate course from the Bach Center, UK. She is already working as a School Psychologist for two reputed schools in India and has also visited countries like Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, UAE, Turkey, Singapore, England, Scotland and France in connection with her job.
