Bespectacled Arnav Kshirsagar was distinctly lucky to survive against Nilesh Yedage in the men’s singles semifinals late last night. of the MCF-TSTTA 2nd Mumbai District ranking tournament, organized by Mandpeshwsar Civic Federation at their Sports Complex at Borivali (West),yesterday. However, Arnav next take on Ayush Sonawane, who got the walkover from sixth seeded Sharveya Samant, for men’s singles crown.

In a ding dong battle of attritions , fifth seeded Nilesh fought back after down 1-2 to catch up the match to the decider as the tie went tto the fifth and decider. Even in the la st deciding game, it was just touch and go before Arnav triumphed 11-5, 6-11, 11-3, 7-11, 8-11, 11-7, 12-10.

Myraa Sangelkar, the top women’s seed, however, made short work of Bhoomi Pitale to sail into the final with a 11-7, 11-9, 11-8, 11-5 win. Myraa next faces Shravani Loke, who likewise thrashed Urmila Bapat 11-7, 11-3, 11-8, 11-5. In fact, Myraa, is also in line for a triple crown as she made the girls under -15 final, where she faces Ayaana Beddingwala and also Girls U-17 finals facing Trissha Ludbe.
