Renowned Table Tennis player Dr. B.R. Sainath, who was active with the game of table tennis in the various Masters’ TT events till recently, passed away 2 days ago in Mysuru. A retired professor of Pharmacology from Gujarat University, he completed M.D. Pharmacology from Saurashtra University and had received special training in Clinical Pharmacology from G.S. Medical College and his PGI from Chandigarh.

Dr. Sainath was a Major in Gujarat Territorial Army. He worked as professor in Pharmacology in various medical colleges in India and in Fiji. He was very passionate about the game of table tennis and played this game at state, national and international level. He had also won prizes and medals in many Masters’ TT championships. Besides table tennis , he was also active in the past with games like Tennis, Billiards, Snooker, Football and hockey.
A multi-talented personality that he was, Dr. Sainath always fought against injustice. Whenever he noticed any irregularities in the sports administration during conduct of tournaments, he always raised his objections. He was a disciplined person and never liked the administrators in sports taking the players for granted. With his passing away, the table tennis fraternity has lost a true sportslover, who always protected the interest of the players.
His wife Ms. Susheela, while paying homage to his departed soul, said “Your wisdom, kindness & dedication will forever remain in our hearts. You will always be remembered and deeply missed.”
