Asian Games 2026
Our Women’s Cricket team won the first Gold for India at the ongoing Asian Games being held in Aichi –Nagoya, Japan. They beat Sri Lankan women in the final, with a huge margin, repeating their performance at the Asia Cup, few days ago. With this Gold medal, India has moved to 8th position in the medals tally.

For Indian team Smriti Mandhana, Richa Gosh and Shefali Verma impressed with their batting to enable the team to generate a huge total of 216 runs.
In response to this tough challenge, Srilanka team collapsed just for 69 runs in 15.4 overs. Shefali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Shreyanka Patil and Shreecharni shared the wickets with their effective bowling attack. Our Men’s Cricket team , which has direct entry into main draw will play their first match on 28th September.
Though our Women’s Badminton team led by PV Sindhu lost to Japan in Quarter finals 1-3, with Sindhu losing her match. The only match the team won was by Treesa and Gayatri by winning the doubles. But, our Men’s team avenged this defeat by scoring 3-0 win ourJapan’s men’s team. India’s star player Lakshya Sen showed his team the way by pulling the first match in his favour, in spite of being down 13-19 in the decider. Lakshya won this deciding game 21-19. His fighting ability was appreciated by one and all watching his game. Lakshya received good support later, with Ayush Shetty winning his singles match and Rankireddy and Sanket Shetty winning the doubles to take India into semi finals.
In Table Tennis Indian Women’s team once again continued with their winning run, defeating Thailand 3-2 to take their team into Quarter finals of Women’s team event. Once again, young Yashaswini Ghorpade played a star role, winning both her singles matches , with deciding match narrowly won by Srija Akula.
There are big hopes from some talented Indian athletes, as many individual events, besides team events will be played tomorrow 6.30 am ( Indian time) onwards.
