Gritty Warriors SC pip India Rush 7-6


Warriors Sports Club put a solid fighting performance and managed to get the better of India Rush Sports Club 7-6 via the sudden death tie-breaker in an engrossing and fiercely contested Women’s Open first round match of the Bandra Gymkhana Annual Open Rink Hockey Tournament 2024, played under floodlights at the Bandra Gymkhana tennis courts on Tuesday night. The match finished in a 2-2 draw.

For Warriors the goal-scorers were Akshaya Kannan, Meenakshi Pandey and Wilma Kannan all scoring two goals each while Nimmy Nair struck one. India Rush SC scored through a hat-trick of goals from Priya S., Kashish S. scored two and Nanavi K. got one to keep them in the fight.

Later, in a one-sided Men Open second round encounter, India Rush Sports Club charged past Antonian War by a convincing 9-2 scoreline. Leading the scoring for India Rush was striker Ravi Bharadia who notched up a fine hat-trick while teammates Akash Rai and Rhythm Mamnia contributed with two goals each and Pranit Naik and Dyanesh Vijaykar chipped in with one goal apiece to complete the winning tally. For the Antonian War team their hard-working forward and captain Aamod Ghadge scored both the goals.

In a keenly contested Boys’ Under-14 match, Don Bosco Academy (Matunga) and St. Stanislaus Yellow (Bandra) shared the spoils as they were engagaed in a high-scoring 3-3 draw.

Later, St. Stanislaus Green defeated Dr. Antonio DaSilva by a comfortable 4-2 marin.

Don Bosco (Borivli) drew with SBO Association 0-0;

St. Theresa Convent (Santacruz) beat Duruelo Convent (Bandra) 2-0.

Boys’ U-14: Don Bosco Academy (Matunga) 3 drew with St. Stanislaus Yellow (Bandra) 3-3;

St. Stanislaus Green (Bandra) beat Dr. Antonio DaSilva (Dadar) 4-2.

Women Open: Warriors SC 7 (Akshaya Kannan 2, Meenakshi Pandey 2, Wilma Kannan 2, Nimmy Nair) beat India Rush SC 6 (Priya S. 3, Kashish S. 2, Nanavi K.).

Men Open: India Rush SC 9 (Ravi Bharadia 3, Akash Rai 2, Rhythm Mamnia 2, Pranit Naik, Dyanesh Vijaykar) beat Antonian War 2 (Aamod Ghadge 2).
