‘Ikka’ presents a different type of Courtroom drama filled with emotions

Right from the period of Late B.R. Chopra , we have seen many Hindi films based on courtroom drama, to keep the audience engaged. Those were the films based on a plot involving a murder mystery. With the change of time, now the new film makers started searching for a story suitable for a gripping courtroom drama arising out of emotional bonding.

Director Siddharth P Malhotra, son of Prem Kishan and grandson of renowned veteran actor Premnath, who directed films like ‘We are Family’,’Hichki’ and ‘Maharaj’  has presented this courtroom drama very skilfully, through his latest film ‘Ikka’ .

The film revolves around a wealthy businessman Shauryaman Mittal ( Akshaye Khanna) who is arrested for the attempted murder of of a young girl Sona. Shauryaman’s father seeks help from a top eminent honest lawyer Arjun Mehra ( Sunny Deol) who faces an ethical problem,  when he is forced to defend an arrogant and wicked accused Shauryaman, only to save his daughter, who is undergoing treatment. After the death of senior Public prosecutor, a new young Public prosecutor Madhura Banerjee ( Tilottma Shome) takes over the case.

In an interesting courtroom drama, Madhura faces the challenge from Arjun Mehra, which has been exhibited very well by the director. Performances of all these lead characters are noteworthy, which makes this film an interesting watch. Jishnu Bhattacharjee’s cinematography and editing by Shweta Venkat Mathew contribute towards the plus points.  The climax of this film is more important, which gives a different look to this film. This film can be viewed on Netflix OTT platform.
