The 16 days competition at the Asian Games 2026 at Aichi-Nagoya, Japan concluded today, with a grand closing ceremony. Most of our team members have already returned to India and therefore only few individual event athletes were part of the closing ceremony. On this concluding day, it was also formally announced that the next Asian Games 2030 will be hosted by Doha, Qatar.

With 85 medals in their bag, our Indian Athletes performed extremely well in all the events. The last two days of the competition proved to be beneficial for India, as more medals were won, taking our position to no.4. Vithya Ramraj reminded one and all about India’s Golden Girl of 80s P.T.Usha, who was called ‘Payyoli Express’. So, Vithya can be called ‘Coimbatore Express’, after her performance in Asian Games 2026.
Besides Vithya, there were other athelets, who were debutants at Asian Games,
yet they surprised all by winning medals for India. To name a few, Neeru Dhanda, Kumkum Mohod, Pranavi Urs, Anahat, Pooja, Prithika Pradeep, Sahil Jadhav Ankush Panghal , Sujit Kalkal and others impressed with their memorable performances.
