MUMBAI: Kushi Desai had a deceptive appearance. She looks tiny but is full of fire as she knocked out top seeded Rijul Sidnale 9-5 to storm into the girls singles semifinals in the Yonex Sunrise-All India Tennis Championship Series U-16 tournament for boys and girls under the auspices Of AITA and MSLTA. The girls matches will be played at the Chembur Gymkhana courts here today.

However, while there was no stopping for the third seeded Akanksha Nitture, who sent Kyre Shetty packing with 9-1 win, the second seed Kkushi too made exit as she was surprised by Omeshwari Chavan 8-5.

There were no surprises in the boys singles with top two seeds making the last eight stage with ease.
