Maaya Rajeshwaran becomes the youngest Indian Woman to win W35- level Singles title

17 year old Maya Rajeshwaran Revathi has become the youngest Indian woman to win a W35 –Level Singles title, thus breaking Sania Mirza’s record.  Maya won this ITF W35 Level Tennis tournament, defeating Celia Cervina Ruiz 6-4, 6-2 to win the title in Lagos, Portugal recently.

It may be recalled that Sania had won the same event, when it was called $ 25,000 event, when she was 17 years 10 month old at the same place and in the same month, while Maya turned out to be the youngest, to win this event (Now called W35 Level), at 17 years 3 months .

Maaya, who started playing ITF’s at Pro-level when she was 13, has made considerable progress in this game at the national and international level. Her talent has now been spotted by Rafa Nadal Academy and has received an invitation from them, via mail. So, we have a young girl, who is expected to take India to the highest level in tennis, in near future.
