Modern Cricket Club emerge champions


Modern Cricket Club registered a six-wicket win against Mazgaon Cricket Club in the final of the MCA 67th Late Shamrao Thosar Memorial Cricket Tournament, organized in association with the Mumbai Cricket Club and played at Central Maidan, Thane on Wednesday.

Electing to bat first, Mazgaon CC were dismissed for 170 runs in 38.2 overs. Left-handed bat Aagneya Aadi top-scored with 47 runs, while Adnan Ansari 38 runs and Omkar Karandikar unbeaten 28 runs lifted the innings.

Modern CC’s bowlers, left-arm spinners Bhavin Darji 3 for 28 and Saif Shaikh 3 for 35 and medium pacer Chandraprakash Bhardwaj 2 for 27 were responsible to restrict the Mazgaon innings and the claimed the wickets.

In reply, Modern CC comfortably chassed the winning target reaching 171 runs for the loss of just four wickets in 34.1 overs. Middle orders batsmen Aakash Savla and Nishant Mane cracked unbeaten half-century knocks of 65 and 55 runs respectively, while opening bat Ravi Vishwakarma contributed 41 runs. Mazgaon CC medium pacers Tanish Patkar was the only successful bowler to take two wickets for 30 runs.
