Om, Sanya set the pool on fire as 13 new records established


Om Satam (PSP) and Sanya Shetty (Khar Gymkhana) were the top performers in their respective boys and girls under-16 events with record-breaking efforts as 13 new records were established on the opening day of the MIG Cricket Club’s   Open Swimmng Gala, held at their swimming pool at Bandra on Saturday.

While Om  set five new marks, wining  golds in the 50m back stroke, 50m breast stroke, 50m free style, 100 m free style 100m and individual medley in the boys under-16 events. Close on the heels of Om was Shwet Poojary, from Police Swimming Pool, who apart from  setting new record in  the won the 50m butterfly stroke, also equaling three marks.

Sanya, the aqua queen from Khar Gymkhana, too was in her element as she bagged three record-breaking golds and equaling one meet mark.Sharing the day’s honours with her was Ruchcika Shetty, of MGMO swimming pool. Ruchika, who  bagged three golds, as she established two new meet record and  equaled one.

The record-breakers were : Girls U-16: Sanya Shetty (Khar Gym) – 3 NMR+1 BMR and Richika Shetty (MGMO)- 2NMR+1BMR.Girls U-14: Sannvi Deshwal (Otters Club)- 1 NMRBoys U-16:  Om Satam (PSP)- 5 NMR+1 BMR. And Shewet Poojary (PSP)- 1NMR+ 3 BMR. Boys U-6: Kiyaar Palande (PSP)-1 NMR.
