Indian Table Tennis has made slow but remarkably steady progress over the past few years. Now, more and more youngsters are winning medals at the International level TT tournaments. The latest news is that our Indian youngsters have won four medals in Table Tennis, at the recently concluded Asian Youth Championship in Bangkok.

Silver medal was bagged by Divyanshi Bhowmick and Syndrela Das in Girls U-19 event. Syndrela bagged Bronze medal in the Girls U-19 singles, while Divyanshi bagged her Bronze partnering Abhinandh P in the Mixed doubles U-19 event. The Indian Boys U-19 team comprising of Abhinandh P, Priyanuj Bhattacharya, Balanurgan Rajsekaran and Kushal Chopda bagged a Bronze medal in this team event.
Reacting on this grand success of our youth at the Asian Youth Championship, former renowned international TT player Poulomi Ghatak has reacted on social media; “Having been closely associated with Indian sport since last 30 years, I have personally witnessed the remarkable transformation brought about by increased Central government support for athletes since 2016. Enhanced funding for elite athletes, the launch of the Khelo India programme, improved international exposure, better infrastructure, and higher cash awards have all played a significant role in raising India’s sporting standards. The results are now visible across almost every Olympic discipline.”
